PETER GHYCZY. 50 YEARS OF FUNCTIONALISM.

In August 1968, Peter Ghyzcy designed the garden egg. At that time, this design icon was designed as a study to explore a new material, the polyurethane, but his personal motivation was to make a comfortable garden chair, which would always have a dry cushion to enjoy a moment outside. Since then it has become an icon of space design. It is in the permanent collection of some of the renowned museums worldwide and often used as a study object in design universities.

Alongside of the garden egg, Peter Ghyczy designed many more iconic furniture objects that are part of the design history of the second half of the 20th century.

The ADAM is holding the first exhibition on Peter Ghyczy, a behind-the-scenes presentation of this inspiring designer.
